A Family Builds A Top 10 Comfort Movie List
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A comfort movie sounds simple until you try to rank it with your family. We chase the kind of movie that feels like a warm blanket, the one you throw on because you already know every line, and then we immediately derail into debates about what “comfort” even means. Is it the movie you’ve seen a hundred times, the one that makes you laugh no matter what mood you’re in, or the one you defend purely out of nostalgia?
We turn the whole thing into a game by drawing titles from a hat and forcing ourselves to place each pick into a top 10 comfort movie list without knowing what’s coming next. That rule creates panic, bargaining, and truly questionable math as we argue over guilty pleasures, animated favorites, and whether a longer, emotional story can still count as a comfort watch. The list gets spicy fast: Over The Top sparks big feelings, Wreck It Ralph causes outrage, and the bonus round becomes a full-on negotiation.
By the end, we lock in our final ranking: 10 Over The Top, 9 Wreck It Ralph, 8 Blast From The Past, 7 Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers, 6 Uncle Buck, 5 The Rocker, 4 Toy Story 3, 3 Step Brothers, 2 School Of Rock, 1 House Guest. Then we wrap with what was good this week and a sleep stream idea that should probably never exist. Listen now, share this with your movie-night group, and leave a review telling us your number one comfort movie and why.

What Counts As A Comfort Movie
SPEAKER_01You know what I need right now? A comfort movie. And what is a comfort movie? It is a movie that you can watch anytime. If it's on TV, you're watching it. If it's on streaming, you're watching it. If you have it on DVD and you're just looking for some comfort from your family, you're watching it. Each of us are gonna read our top five comfort movies right now. Jackson, you start. Okay. Meet the Fox, The Rocker, School of Rock, Uncle Buck, Daddy Daycare. Hmm. Almost every one of your titles sound like cock or rock or buck or f I almost threw up because of that list. I'm just kidding. I don't know my old kids' names. Can you read yours, please? Yes, I have Chippendale, Rescue Rangers, the new one on Disney Plus. I love that movie. You don't need any, we don't need any description. Well, because there's a I don't need to know where to stream it. Just go. Shut up.
SPEAKER_02Uh The Muppets 2011, Toy Story 3, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Wreck It Ralph.
SPEAKER_01Great, right?
SPEAKER_03Animated. Everything is animated.
SPEAKER_01If we get Fantastic Mr. Fox, it's going at 10 easily. Meet the Foxers is. No. Okay. No, no, it's not.
SPEAKER_03My five are Return of the Jedi, House on Haunted Hill, Stepbrothers, Uncle Buck, and Project Hail Mary. Because I've watched that
Everyone Reads Their Top Five
SPEAKER_03one like six times.
SPEAKER_01I do think it's worth noting for yours. The House on Haunted Hill is the Vincent Price version.
SPEAKER_03Yes, the Vincent Hill.
SPEAKER_01The Paris Hilton version.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, no, no. I'm talking the old school Vincent Price and not the colorized version either. I watched the black and white version.
SPEAKER_01Oh, what do you mean by that? Anyways, here are my top five. Employee of the Month with Dane Cook. Over the top. House guest. Okay. Blast from the past, and Daddy Daycare. Just because they're not on your list. The only movie I like. Cocker list, whatever it is. The only movie on that list I like is Employee of the Month.
SPEAKER_03You like that movie? That's pretty good. Good man.
SPEAKER_01Good man.
SPEAKER_03It's a guilty pleasure movie, if you ask
Ranking Rules And Math Chaos
SPEAKER_03me.
SPEAKER_01Again, we're gonna pick from the hat, place it on the list without knowing what's coming next, and pick our top 10 comfort movies. I'm Josh.
SPEAKER_03I'm Rachel.
SPEAKER_01Of COVID. I'm comfortable. This is relatively terrible. I love you, but you're all terrible. Welcome back to the Relatively Terrible Podcast. We are the uploads of Fun Family, questioning culture with comedy and just enough dysfunction to feel normal.
SPEAKER_00I feel game voice! Yay!
SPEAKER_01Today we're choosing our top 10 comfort movies. I'm gonna get us started this time.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Blast from the past. 10. Okay. Hold on. Anytime their movie doesn't come out, it's gonna be a 10.
SPEAKER_03Where would you put it? You picked it.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I've seen you watch it once. Comfort movies are supposed to are supposed to be once literally a lot. I've got it.
SPEAKER_03He he did years ago. Watched it a lot.
SPEAKER_01And when it's been on streaming or it's been on TV, I've watched it. And I used to watch it almost every night before bed. I would put this at eight because I've never seen it or even heard of it, but there is a there is a movie me and mom are aiming for for number 10. So I'm gonna go, I'll say seven. I'll say eight. We can put it at eight. It's not, I was just messing around with ten. It's not that bad. It's just not my cup of tea.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so you're saying what?
SPEAKER_01I said seven, eight, eight.
SPEAKER_03I say seven. So what should be the logic here? No, no, no. Dad came up with the math last time.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh. Listen, I don't do math that well, but eight plus eight is sixteen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Plus seven is twenty three, plus another another seven is thirty. Thirty divided by four is what?
SPEAKER_03Well, eight times four is thirty. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Seven and a half. Seven and a half. So then alpha. So we round that up to eight. We'll put it at eight. All right. Okay. See, the first one always takes too long. Yeah, I guess seven. I don't I don't freaking know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03We'll put it at eight.
SPEAKER_01It's seven and a half. We'll put it at eight. Okay, here we go. There you go, Rach. Come on.
SPEAKER_03Come on. We have so little overlap. I'm really.
Guilty Pleasures And Over The Top
SPEAKER_03Oh, over the top.
SPEAKER_01Okay, listen. Tell people what this is. Alright, over the top is with Sylvester Stallone, where he has to win an arm wrestling competition to win money so he can stay with his son, or his grandpa's gonna take him because his mom in the movie just died of cancer. Oh shoot. And his son's a little shit, but he loves his son because you know he's a good dad. And I would put it at 10 because that's where it deserves to go.
SPEAKER_03It deserves to be.
SPEAKER_01It is not the greatest movie in the world, but if it's on anytime, I'll watch it. If it's on streaming, I'll watch it. Wow.
SPEAKER_03I think it's a guilty. Oh well, maybe not quite a guilty pleasure movie, but it's I think guilty pleasure and comfort go hand in hand.
SPEAKER_01That's okay. That's here we go. You've never seen it. No, I've never even heard of it. All right, come on. You've never heard of over the top. Give me something good, give me something good. Ooh, yes! Chippendale Rescue Rangers. Seven.
SPEAKER_03Nine.
SPEAKER_01It's a good movie. Okay, let me just say this. It is on Disney Plus all the time, right? Yeah. The only time I see you watch it is when we go to Ohio.
SPEAKER_03Is this the one with it's um not animated? It's like there in the real world.
SPEAKER_01Live action and animated mix. Andy Sam, Andy Sand.
SPEAKER_03It's getting your dude in it. I was gonna say seven. Okay, seven. Okay, yeah, seven.
SPEAKER_01Seven's good. Okay. I love that movie.
SPEAKER_03It it's not that bad.
SPEAKER_01This is a good place to throw those, by the way. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Then you can see them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, Jackson pick, sweetie. Don't call me sweetie. What get your cupcake? The f what's that? Choose
Comfort Vs Great Film Debate
SPEAKER_01your cupcake. See, this is what happens when he starts sleeping with Trevor. Don't phrase it like that. Jackson! On a stream. Pause.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_01Project Hail Mary. Ooh, okay.
SPEAKER_03That's not comforting. I've watched it like six times.
SPEAKER_01But I would say that that's like a. I don't know. I don't think it's a comfort movie because it takes a lot to watch. It's a lot, it's an emotional journey for me. So I don't think it's really comfort. I just think I think it's a great film. It's also a longer movie. When I'm wanting comfort, I don't want two and a half hours of comfort like that. Okay, so where would you put it on? He wants an hour and a half of Cox and Rocks. Yes, I'm gonna do it. Oh my gosh, please stop saying it.
SPEAKER_04Please stop.
SPEAKER_01Where would you put it, Jackson? I would put it uh Fokkers and Buckers. So five. Five? I would say five. But it's so it's more comforting than Chippendale? I I I would have to go. I was gonna say nine, but I'll go I'll go as high as six. Project's home, Eric. I'm fine with it being a six. I would go we gotta remember we also have the bonus round. Yeah, that that's not comforting. It's not a comfort movie. To me, it's more of a great film than a comfort movie.
The Rocker Fight And Big Picks
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay. But it's your it's yours. It's fine. Wow. Mom is butthurt over this.
SPEAKER_03Not really.
SPEAKER_01We're going with Ooh, The Rocker.
SPEAKER_00Yes! Man. Nine, nine. I hate that movie so much. Do you hate it?
SPEAKER_03I hate it! More than more than Meet the Falkers. But mom, you may have some Tism. Chipp'endeal and Project Hailmere can be. You may have a touch of the Tism. You can fix it in the bonus. Because if I'm telling you, this is crazy. If we end up with, Calvin, if we end up with Meet the Falkers in the top three, I will riot this podcast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, six. Or five. Damn it. Okay, what are you going, Jax? We can put it at six.
SPEAKER_03No, that'd be five.
SPEAKER_01Oh, five. Oh, five, man. Five? The Rockers should go at five.
SPEAKER_03I actually don't mind The Rocker. I think it's pretty solid, and it was a movie that had an unfortunate release date, and it got very overlooked.
SPEAKER_01Stepbrothers. One of the most underrated movies, I think, to ever exist is The Rocker.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's very, and it's got a great cast.
SPEAKER_01Oh man. It's funny. And it's aged pretty well. Great soundtrack. Yeah. Anyways, that's when Josh Dad was still funny. Whoa. I'm a star.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I got two.
SPEAKER_02Shut up! Oh, school of rock. One! No, four.
SPEAKER_01Calvin, I'm gonna rip your nipples. I'll go one. Four. One. Calvin, I'm gonna rip it. Okay. One, one, four, what? Four. Okay. So eight plus two is ten divided by four. What is ten divided by four? Two and a half. Two and a half. So two.
SPEAKER_03So three.
SPEAKER_01Three. Alright, fine. That's all I'm doing is mob. So last time my math was way off. Have you seen the last podcast? That was not right. This is horrible.
SPEAKER_02It is. This is true. This is horrible. This is the worst last.
SPEAKER_01You guys suck.
SPEAKER_02Oh my God.
SPEAKER_01They don't want comfort in it. They want bullshit. Okay. Step brothers. Ooh. That's uh two. I'll go two. Two. It's over School of Rock. Yeah. No. Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_00Hold on a second. That is such a PS. What? You've seen it one time. Yeah, and I was like, better than School of Rock. Yeah, that's it. You said that? Did you watch it? You know what movie this is better than?
SPEAKER_01School of Rocker. Yep. Oh yeah. School of Rocker. I just got cocker and rocker and bucker and f ⁇ in my head.
SPEAKER_02Stop saying that.
SPEAKER_01This list was like Fokker, Bucker, Fock. No! Yes, it
Uncle Buck And List Strategy
SPEAKER_01was! Uncle Buck. Uncle Buck.
SPEAKER_03Uncle Buck needs to be hot.
SPEAKER_01Uncle Buck Futter. Two. I would say three.
SPEAKER_03It can't be three. School of Rock is a three. Wait, so what do we have left? Nine, four, one.
SPEAKER_01Nine, four, nine. No matter what. If we don't get it, I know what I'm doing in the bonus round.
SPEAKER_03Alright, here we go.
SPEAKER_01Here you go, Jackson. Ha! Daddy Daycare. One. I would say one.
SPEAKER_03It can't be nine.
SPEAKER_01It can't be nine. One, one, what do you say? I'm going nine. What do you say?
SPEAKER_03Honestly, I would say one. In terms of comfort, it's it's up there.
SPEAKER_01So if we're doing that, so if we're saying three, what are you saying? Nine? So twelve divided by four is three. So we'll do, we'll put it at four.
SPEAKER_03Oh, we're gonna end up with something really stupid. We are leaving! Do you understand that we are leaving spots one and nine out of the game?
SPEAKER_01Listen, listen. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. Here we go. Oh god. Oh my lord. This is this is bad. Oh my
Daddy Daycare Drops A Bomb
SPEAKER_01god. What? Oh, I'm gonna be. Oh my god. What a county. This is nine. Wreck it Ralph.
SPEAKER_00No! It's not one. It can't be one.
unknownNo!
SPEAKER_01Wreck My Ralph is number nine. It's horrible!
SPEAKER_03We should have put Daddy D. Care at one. No! And given Wreck It Ralph four. That's what we should do.
SPEAKER_01Wreck It Ralph is not a comfort movie for anyone in this room except for you. I like it, but it's not one. It's not a comfort movie.
SPEAKER_02Alright, we're gonna move on quickly because they've never hated my family more. Who are you talking to? Calvin, get ready to love us. Do you know what number one is gonna be? The Muppet.
SPEAKER_00Calvin's gonna have a stroke.
SPEAKER_01Calvin's
Wreck It Ralph Sparks Outrage
SPEAKER_01gonna have a big stroke. And I'm gonna be talking like that. The Muppet. Oh, so a movie, by the way. That's Clifford. I wasn't making fun of anyone.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So we need what are what's left in there.
SPEAKER_01And the new celebration goes to. And now the honorable mentions. Fantastic Mr. Fox. Uncle Buck. Yes. House on Haunted Hill. Return of the Jedi. Toy Story 3, House Guest, and Meet the Falkers. Welcome
Bonus Round Betrayals And Final List
SPEAKER_01to the bonus round.
SPEAKER_03If you put Meet the Falkers at number one, I will divorce you.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit.
SPEAKER_00You better.
SPEAKER_02Is that all it takes?
SPEAKER_01You can put Muppets not at number one, I don't care, but if you get rid of it, you're actually insane. Don't you dare. I'm getting rid of the Muppets at number one.
SPEAKER_03You can put it back on.
SPEAKER_01No, I can't.
SPEAKER_03You can't mess with the number one spot, but you could put the movie back on.
SPEAKER_01You can put the movie back on. You could put the movie back on. Yeah. Yeah. We're changing the rules so you don't lose your shit. Oh. I'm sorry. The rules are different every time.
SPEAKER_03No, they're not.
SPEAKER_01I'm taking off the Muppets.
SPEAKER_03Number one.
SPEAKER_01And I'm putting house guest at number one. Sin bad for life, baby.
SPEAKER_03It's better than Meet the Falkers.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_03It's I can I can You know what?
SPEAKER_01He didn't free. He's freaking out in a way that he's quiet, which is worse.
SPEAKER_03He's internalizing it right now.
SPEAKER_01Alright, Rach, what are you doing in the bonus round?
SPEAKER_03I'm going to I'm gonna get rid of Hail Mary. And I'm going to put Uncle Buck.
SPEAKER_01Nice.
SPEAKER_03At number six.
SPEAKER_01Good choice. Oh, Calvin's here. He's out for vengeance.
SPEAKER_00Oh, let's get rid of Daddy Daycare!
SPEAKER_01Oh shit. That was just a bitch move. And add Toy Story and you don't even write freaking Toy Story. You got rid of Daddy Daycare and add a Toy Story? Toy Story Three, yep. Yikes. That's rock. Can you write Toy Story 3 on there? No, he wrote Toy Three. No. Did you write three? No, he did. I put Toyota.
SPEAKER_00Toy Three? What is that?
SPEAKER_01Toy Story. Jackson, let's see. Let's see. What are we doing here? I am put that's.
SPEAKER_03Are you gonna put Daddy Daycare back on the list?
SPEAKER_01Alright. Everything from like under under Uncle Buck is terrible. Everything six and below is garbage. Except, yeah, like nine, eight, nine, ten. That's your opinion. Can you just pick something, please? You know what? I am switching the order of School of Rock and Step Brothers, because that just does not. That was anticlimactic. Just give me a board. I'm hold on, I'm writing. And here's our final top ten comfort movie list. At ten, over the top. Nine, wreck it Ralph. Yes. That's garbage. Eight, Blast from the Past. Seven, Chippendale Rescue Rangers. Six, Uncle Buck. Five, The Rocker. Yes. Four. Toy Story Three. Three. Step Brothers. Two. School of Rock. And number one with a bullet, House Guest. There you go. I don't even know what that movie is. Oh, get out of here. You know what that movie is. I don't. Such horse crap. It doesn't belong in number one. Yes, it does. I mean it, and I'm glad I was able to get rid of the Muppets. So wait, in general, do you think that House Guest is better than the Muppets? Yes. For me, for a comfort movie. Holy shit.
SPEAKER_00Dude, do you realize? Do you realize I had the message of the Muppets in the car for 500 times while we drove across the country? I'm asking like in general. Do you realize?
SPEAKER_02I'm asking in general.
SPEAKER_00Yes!
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's dog shit.
SPEAKER_01That's dog shit. Sinbad. Phil Hartman. Oh, Phil Hartman's good.
SPEAKER_03And that's about it.
SPEAKER_01But it was a good movie.
SPEAKER_03I always want a Big Mac when we watch that movie.
SPEAKER_01Alright,
What Was Good This Week
SPEAKER_01what was good this week?
SPEAKER_03We booked our flights to Orlando.
SPEAKER_01That's gonna be awesome. But the guy. Okay. See, and you ruined it.
SPEAKER_03I yeah, I got nothing for that.
SPEAKER_01And what is this with
The Sleep Stream Confession
SPEAKER_01a sleep stream you're doing? Oh yes. So I am doing a sleep stream with my friend. Not to be weird.
SPEAKER_02We're going to be on a Discord call and sleep together. Not like that, though.
SPEAKER_01So I'm gonna get a bed, uh, put in the streaming room, and I'm gonna fall asleep. And for the chat, I'm gonna be having Minecraft music playing.
SPEAKER_02That sounds terrible.
SPEAKER_01And that I'm just hoping. And that? No, I wait, wait, hold on. And I'm just hoping I don't get a boner on stream. And that is relatively terrible.
SPEAKER_02I've never heard anything gayer in my life.
