What worked was Lobo. I know that was a pretty divisive character for us. Some of us liked him, some of us didn't. He was pretty good. I honestly prefer Jason Momoa as uh Lobo over his performance as Aquaman. Aquaman, yeah. I I would like to see more of him in the DCU. What felt familiar, kind of the whole backstory. Like, we get it. We get the dog was important to her. Big freaking deal. Uh I don't care. And lastly, why did we make this movie? We didn't need to make this movie. We get it. She's trying to save her dog. Don't care. Make another John Wick. Like, come on. I don't This was just such a waste. And it didn't build up the DCU at all. This was like a side project gone wrong. We didn't need it. It advanced the universe in no way. Yeah.

Now in Superman, uh Metamorpho creates like Kryptonite with his own hands. Yes, but then he also creates like some type of sun. Okay. But it's in like not that much time space, so it's not that long, but that was more believable. Yeah, and then she got shot with Kryptonite again.

Do something new. I was like, she is just too much like Peter Quill. She's a girl, Peter Quill. Yeah, and I agree. Like, even when she had the headphones on, listening to music, I was like, I thought it was.

Writing Problems CGI And Copycat Vibes

What worked is not very much. I really wanted to like this. Um what felt familiar was almost everything. This was sort of standard superhero fodder. Um I I do think I do think the supergirl character was was pretty good, but we've definitely seen the drunk, uh, resentful, bitter uh superhero done before. So it was definitely nothing new. It was well done, but it was familiar.

Um where this really falls off, in my opinion, everything should be pointed back to the writers. Too much of this, the whole plot and the advancing of the story hinges on illogical decisions made by characters that would never have made those decisions. And it's those illogical decisions that advance the plot and allow certain things to happen. And that just really makes me grind my teeth because there's just, and there were a couple of them. It wasn't like there was just this one moment. There were many moments where I was like, nope, that's not how that would have happened. And the character, some of the the bad guy in particular, some of his behavior, you know, at one moment he's, you know, slitting somebody's throat, and then the next moment he's saying, You're gonna die by the end of the day.

He didn't even the main villain didn't even kill her at the beginning.

And that's and again, that's one of my one of my beefs is you know, the whole thing that sets this in motion is that girl's family being killed. And the fact that she was left alive, unharmed, made no sense. And then when you find out that the this band of villains is trafficking young girls, that's what pisses me. And doesn't take her and doesn't and just leaves her there, there's no way she would have been dead or trafficked. It just so right out the gate at the start of the movie, something that makes no sense has happened, and that's what's propelling the plot.

So poor writing. What worked for me was actually um her origin story. I had never really knew why would I know Supergirls? I don't I remember reading the comics, but I don't remember seeing anything about Superman. Yeah, no, I didn't know it either. I thought that was pretty interesting seeing how Superman got to Earth and then how she got to Earth and and how that all went down, how Krypton. I wonder if anyone else escaped off of Krypton, like from out of an escape pod. Um and also like the choice of David Krumholtz as her dad. Yeah, he's a really good actor, and I've loved him for years, so to see him continue to work, I think was was really cool. Uh, what felt familiar, I was gonna say the same thing when they were playing music. I was like, oh my gosh. Peter Quinn. This is not Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, when I saw a lot of the aliens and creatures, Guardians of the Galaxy, um, there was a I remember when I saw the first trailer and I said to you, This looks like a Guardians of the Galaxy regurgitation, a lot of the color palette, a lot of the CG, which a lot of the CG was decent, but there was so much, and there were so many moments toward the end, especially, where it was absolute garbage. There was one that looked like a bad Photoshop file where Ruthie and um Kara are hugging from in a wide shot and they just look like they're placed there in Photoshop. And I'm like, wow, that was that was so bad. And this is DC. I just don't think I just don't think this movie was necessary at all. I don't think it was time for Supergirl. Uh, and I think that they could have really spent their money somewhere else. This is just a step backwards for the DCU. And with there being so much superhero fatigue, they have even more work to do for themselves now. And I just wonder if they can see it. I wonder if James Gunn can see it anymore. Because now he's the head of it. Now he's the head. So he's the executive. Is he gonna make the right decisions? And this wasn't the right decision.

Dumbest Hill And Moral Anger

And one girl was and one girl was killed, that pisses me off. I don't care.

DCU Strategy Marvel Comparisons And Girl Power

James Gunn probably thought I could do that like Kevin Feige, and he's proven already, nope, he cannot do that. Just look at the um look at the mar the MCU, how that started with Iron Man. But yeah, Yelena, I think, is as close as you get to a well drawn character who you can who is relatable. And that doesn't really come out until Thunderbolts, but she's also not a main character. So if you prematurely put Elena, and again, She had a lot of good screen time in the Hawkeye show, which then set her up for thunderbolts. And again, she wasn't the main character. It's like if you had just put her right in a movie, it would have flopped.

Or cash in on Lobo slash Supergirl merch. I'll go first. I'm just gonna cash in on merch because I know people are gonna buy this merch, whether they see it or not, or whether they like the movie or not, they're gonna buy the merch. Because one thing from the first from the Superman movie that James Gunn made, I loved is the S. That is the best Superman S because it's not really an S, anyways. Yeah it's part of their language or whatever. That is one thing he crushed. And I saw that, I was like, okay, just like when I saw Masters of the Universe take away the old logo, I was like, they don't give a shit about this movie. They took away one of the best logos ever made, Masters of the Universe, and gave their crappy AI version. So I would cash in on merch, and yeah, I would make a couple of logo things, but I would probably stick to um I'd probably make like a really kick-ass uh battle jacket. Yeah, leather leather jacket, but make it like pink with like for girls and stuff, and you know, put patches and stuff all over it and sell it for like $295 online. Per yeah, leather jacket? I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do a battle vest, but all right, Rach, what would you do?
