Toy Story 5 looks like it might be a tired sequel, then it hits you with real jokes, real heart, and a story that actually has something to say. We’re skeptical going in, but we come out arguing it belongs next to the original trilogy, with the kind of comedy that works for kids while adults catch the sharper lines. We also flag a spoiler point early, because we get specific about what made us laugh, what made us tear up, and what moments felt like classic Pixar.

The big conversation is the “toys versus iPad” premise and why it’s more than a cheap headline. We talk about the movie’s surprisingly nuanced take on technology, cyberbullying, and how easy it is for kids to be cruel behind a screen while parents miss the signs. Jessie’s storyline becomes a standout, and the film’s callbacks feel earned instead of forced, especially compared to how disconnected Toy Story 4 felt for us.

Then we hit our Dumb Hill segment: tiny grievances, bold claims, and the arguments we’ll defend way too hard, from animation choices to voice actor nitpicks. We wrap with our Relatively Terrible rating scale, final one-liners, and a quick “what was good this week” check-in that turns into a reminder to chase better movies, better moments, and more time together. Subscribe, share this with a Toy Story fan, leave a review, and tell us: does Toy Story 5 crack your top three?

Cash Grab Or Real Story

SPEAKER_03

Is this a real emotional story and a good reason to bring the Toy Story gang back? Or is it just Pixar getting ready to cash another infinity size check?

SPEAKER_06

It's the first one. This movie was so freaking good and it was very emotional.

SPEAKER_05

I wish I could say it's a cash grab, but I enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_07

So good.

SPEAKER_00

It was well done.

SPEAKER_03

What this movie is, is everyone involved in Toy Story 4 and Lightyear coming together at a family event and everyone making fun of them, be like, should you guys see their last two movies? They really sucked. And then they're then they all got together afterwards and they're like, Alright, in a couple years we're gonna come up with something that's worth making, and that is Toy Story 5. Yes. Yes. So we're gonna talk about Toy Story 5 today on the Relatively Terrible Podcast. I'm Josh. I'm Rachel. I'm Calvin. I'm Jackson. And this is Relatively Terrible. I love you, but you're all terrible. Welcome back to the Relatively Terrible Podcast. We are the Uploads of Fun Family. Questioning culture with just enough dysfunction.

SPEAKER_06

I feel dysfunction.

SPEAKER_03

To feel normal. I think I got that right. I think I missed something. Oh, questioning culture with comedy and just enough dysfunction

Elevator Pitches And Trailer Doubts

SPEAKER_03

to feel normal.

SPEAKER_06

I feel dysfunction.

SPEAKER_03

I care. You don't let me tell you who you sound like right now when you say things like that. All right, in one sentence, let's give our elevator pitch for Toy Story 5 and sell it to the internet. I'll go first. It's an emotional roller coaster that I've been waiting for. Seeing the trailer made me think it was going to be garbage, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. And you should go spend your hard-earned money and see Toy Story 5, and at the end, stand up and cheer, and just have a good time with your family and friends. A run-on sentence, but it was one.

SPEAKER_00

It was not. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_05

A modern day version of the original trilogy. It was amazing, and I'm glad I was so wrong about it at first.

SPEAKER_04

Oh god, Tech Collide. Really? You're the one that wanted to see this so bad. You dragged us there. Toys, Tech Collide?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay, right. That's what kind of happened, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um forget Toy Story 4. Toy Story 5 lives up to the original trilogy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Spoiler alert!

Spoilers Start What Works Best

SPEAKER_03

There may be spoilers from this point on. No, there will be. Yeah, there will be. If you do not want to have spoilers, please leave now. Leave. Toy Story 5. What worked? What felt recycled? And what made you say, are we really doing an iPad versus toys? Jax?

SPEAKER_05

What worked was Conan O'Brien's character and the comedy in this movie was great because it brought back the original trilogy comedy where it was funny for both kids and adults. Anyone could watch this movie. I'm not ashamed to watch this movie, even though people in the other theater are watching Obsession.

SPEAKER_03

Even though even though one of the previews was Paw Patrol.

SPEAKER_06

Oh God.

SPEAKER_03

Oh God, Jack. Sorry. I just had to say that.

SPEAKER_00

What was the second? What's the rest of it?

SPEAKER_05

What what felt recycled? What felt recycled? I mean, it is Toy Story 5. So it is another Toy Story movie. So if you're already sick of like the Toy Story franchise, like, oh, after three, I'm done, I can understand that. And after four, I was I was already sick of it. That's why when Calvin dragged us, I was like, oh, here we go. But it was a pleasant surprise, and it really brought back the trilogy very well. So they recycled the right things and getting rid of the garbage that was in four.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Yeah. Um and then what uh what made you say, are we really doing an iPad versus toys?

SPEAKER_05

No, I'm glad they did an iPad versus toys. That's something that needed to be addressed, but they handled it so well because in the end, they didn't completely get rid of technology, but they they had a good technology real-world balance. True. And that's what needs to be taught. So I thoroughly enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_06

What worked for me, of course, everything about this movie was just so good. But the one thing that stuck out was all the Buzz light years. I thought that was gonna be kind of stupid, but then it was great, and they were like, Star Command. And I was like, that's great. And then it just worked so well, and then the actual Buzz is like, oh yeah, Zerg is our real father. That was a great joke.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, yes, he just ruined all their like right there, blew their minds.

SPEAKER_06

And then when their drones are like, this is flying with star. I'm like, yes, this is what Toy Story is, not for. Get out of here. Yeah, for this is what Toy Story is in Calvin's peak.

SPEAKER_05

You said something so true. Four didn't really reference any of the former movies. This one did. And the scene where all those Buzz Lightyears turn into drones and they start flying and they say that line that's the best scene of the whole movie. It was so great. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

What felt recycled? I'm gonna say nothing. Okay. I think nothing was recycled.

SPEAKER_03

Um did anything make you say, Are we really doing toys versus iPad?

SPEAKER_06

No, and I'm glad it didn't end with, oh yeah, all tech is bad. Right. They were they actually showed like the kids being mean to her, her getting cyberbullied, and like that would happen. Yeah. That would happen. And that's just so true. And I feel like not many parents like would know that their kid is getting bullied online. Like the kid would usually hide it.

SPEAKER_03

They even showed the one thing where when Jesse first started to find out about this, she went to that house and they took her up on the roof, and she saw down into all the rooms where the kids are just on devices in their rooms by themselves. And that's how it happens. Yep. Rach?

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, what worked for me was everything. This this was a great story, um, and it was funny. I think that's my number one comment is this is funny. And I think it's funny for everyone, but I do think there were a few jokes that would go completely over kids' heads. There were a couple that were really funny. Like after he kisses Jesse and he's flying away, and the buzz tells him, you know, stand down.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that was great. Eddie soldier.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Eddie's soldier. Eddies, that's what he said. I was like, no little kid is it didn't matter.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But it was very funny. I don't think anything felt recycled. What I think they did really well in this movie was they they did hearken back to the original movies, and there was very, very brief references to the new characters from Toy Story 4.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It was like Toy Story 4, it was like they were trying to reboot the franchise and almost like start over. And I think that's why it felt so disjointed, and it just wasn't very premise of Forge just isn't good.

SPEAKER_06

The premise wasn't good. It didn't work.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but Jessie was a great main character. Yes. Her storyline was very good. You felt emotionally invested.

SPEAKER_06

Um and how Emily named her daughter Jesse. I was like, yes, we're discovering more of her story, and it was a callback. Like this movie had so many callbacks, and four didn't. It's almost like the other three movies just didn't exist.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I mean. It was like four, they were trying to do something, like start something new, and it just didn't work.

SPEAKER_06

No one liked it. And me and Jackson looked at each other at the one part where they're on the horses and it's the Pizza Planet van, and we're like, Pizza Planet! There we go.

SPEAKER_05

Because even in the third movie, they referenced the Pizza Planet truck.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. So did anything make you say, Why are we doing iPads versus toys?

SPEAKER_00

I went into it with that attitude of like, why are we doing this? How could this story possibly play out without it just being all tech is bad and this is, you know, and that's just not a realistic way to view things. But they did handle it really well. And the thing that I really appreciated was really ultimately, it wasn't that tech was bad, it was that kids suck. Yeah. Um, and that the internet just gives kids new ways to suck and to be mean um and do it like behind closed doors. Yeah. And so this movie should be a wake-up call to parents. Like, it doesn't matter if your kid is on a lily pad and they don't have an actual phone in their hand yet. Cyberbullying is happening, and even if you don't want to call it that, you know, it's just kids are mean, and it's way easier to be mean to somebody behind a screen instead of in person.

SPEAKER_03

I think you're right about that. That is a very good point. This should be a wake-up call to parents. I would say this is a more palatable and more accessible version of adolescence. That show on Netflix, this is obviously something kids could watch too, and they can see what's going on and what could happen, because this is real. Yeah. So what worked for me was yeah, pretty much everything, but I say the things that helped it get far beyond anything that Toy Story 4 was trying to do was the story, the comedy, and the emotional beats. Uh, there was a I teared up a couple times. Like when she got bullied and she didn't want to take Jesse and Bullseye with her because of those idiot kids that were calling her a baby. That really I felt that. I felt that. I think a lot of kids feel that. Also, when yeah, Jesse discovered that Emily had named her daughter Jesse. Oh my gosh. I had to hold back so hardcore because I knew you guys were probably looking, and I was like, I wasn't like one tear comes out of like I love that scene. That was like, yeah, that was so good.

SPEAKER_00

Clever.

SPEAKER_03

Because I was going into it thinking there's no way they can bring in emotional the emotional beats that they did in three. And they did. One and two doesn't really have them for me. They're still good. Jesse's backstory. But three.

SPEAKER_00

Three was where it was at.

SPEAKER_03

Three, and they did some similar things. They made me feel some similar things. What felt recycled to me was I agree with what everyone said. There's a lot of things, but they they did it right. Yeah. They did it right.

SPEAKER_00

It needed to be there. I think not hearkening back, not referencing those previous movies, that's part of what made Toy Story 4 so bad.

SPEAKER_03

And then I think uh I went into it like Rachel. Like I saw the iPad thing, and I'm like, this is a dated story already. But it's it's a necessity to have the story, and people don't like this because they don't want flaws being pointed out. And and they went there. Yeah, I think that's why it's gonna be so strong and so powerful, and that's why I think people

Dumb Hill Hot Takes Begin

SPEAKER_03

should go see it. We have arrived at the dumbest hill. So this is where we have a dumbhill, or as some of you people on the internet call it, a hot take. Um, and we defend it to the death. Not really, but I I'll can I go first this time?

SPEAKER_00

Sure, sure.

SPEAKER_03

I think my dumb hill would be when so, like when they have like the cold openings in the other movies, and in this one when they're playing with the toys and they go to the different style of animation. I don't like the different style of animation in this one. That's one thing that I would change. I just think that in the other movies they did it a little bit better. I get it, they're trying to kind of decipher. You know what I'm talking about when she plays when she goes to it. I liked it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, like the watercolor.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like a watercolor. I like that. I like it. I like it. I don't like it.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't mind that. I don't like it. I like that.

SPEAKER_00

I like it too.

SPEAKER_03

That's why it's my dumb. I don't like it. And it's one thing that I would just want to get rid of and change and go back to the old way. Like uh, what was the one where they I think it was Toy Story 3A, where at the beginning they do the whole train ropper scene.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that scene is iconic. Yeah, so good. In the regular animation. They didn't have to change it. Yeah. Well, that's because it was different in a way. Actually, mmm. It's the same thing. They're just using it. I almost wondered though, and I don't I mean, it's Disney Pixar, I don't care like how much money they're spending. I almost wonder if it saves them a little bit of money by doing that very simplistic style. But I bet it costs more because I think it's more of a realistic style of animating. So they're probably doing it by hand. I don't know. Rach, what's your dumb take? Or your dumb dumb take, dumb hill. Dumb hill. What's your dumb hill take?

SPEAKER_00

I think my dumb hill is that I think in the world of animated movies, we only need Toy Story. The the the Toy Story trilogy and now five are Desert Island. These are, of all the animated movies that have ever been made, these are the only ones you need. There are a couple other good ones.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But but honestly, I think you get between Toy Story 3 and now Toy Story 5, you get the same emotional resonance that you do out of Up.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And I think Desert Island, I don't, I don't think I need any other movies, and I would be okay with Toy Story 6 if they could match Toy Story 5's annotation.

SPEAKER_06

I agree with that. I know people are gonna, you know, if they come out with more movies, people are gonna be like, oh, it's unnecessary. It should have been at three.

SPEAKER_05

Fine. But then when we get new movies like that new movie, Gato or Gato, or what the hell that is about the cats, and then that stupid Witch movie.

SPEAKER_03

Gato is cat in Spanish. I don't care. I thought that trailer was pretty good. No, that was stupid.

SPEAKER_05

And then what's that stupid witch movie? Hex? Yeah. Yeah, let's get Toy Story 10 in the works right now.

SPEAKER_06

Each Toy Story movie could be like five, you know, one, two, three, and five. It could go on forever. It could go on forever, and I wouldn't mind. Yeah. Yeah. What's your dumb hill take? I guess my dumb hill is that it's up there with the original trilogy. Oh, no, you're right. You're right. I don't really have a dumb hill of the yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I thought you were gonna say your, I thought you were gonna say that this is your movie of the year.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like you, I heard you say that it doesn't even matter about how good Spider-Man is.

SPEAKER_06

I'm sorry, I know peep when Spider-Man comes out. Oh, Spider-Man, oh movie of the year. I don't care. This isn't for me.

SPEAKER_01

Spider-Man is gonna be here, Toy Story 5. No, if Daredevil's in Spider-Man, it's gonna be Toy Story. Not for me.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, can you imagine if Daredevil is in Toy Story?

SPEAKER_03

Daredevil in Daredevil.

SPEAKER_00

What if they put a Daredevil action figure in Toy Story? That's Toy Story 6. I want, I want Daredevil. That's not gonna happen. How badass would that be? That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, it would be cool, but it's not gonna happen. I guess that's my dumb hill. Toy Story 5 is my movie of the year. Oh, we're only halfway through the year. Jackson, what's your dumb hill?

SPEAKER_05

Kids my age saying, Obsession's where it's at. No, Toy Story Station.

SPEAKER_06

You know what's funny? You know what's funny? Obsession has made 300 mil, but Toy Story 5 is gonna make that this weekend. So he's right. Like, I'm not even kidding. The estimated uh grossing is uh 250.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Jax, dumb hell. I did not like the voice actor they got for Mr. Potato Head. Oh my god. Oh, I agree. Yeah. I did not. He barely spoke. He barely spoke, but I when I heard him, I was like, hold on a second. That's not the voice actor. You can't replace the original. Don Rickles? Yeah, you can't replace Don Rickles. Don Rickles. No, no, no. Who was it in this movie? No one knows. It was just a one knows, and I don't want to know.

SPEAKER_00

He only had what, maybe six lines together.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but Mr. Potato Head, especially in the first movie, was one of my favorite characters. The Potato Head voice is really like it's a very minor thing, but when I heard his voice, I said, ooh, that's not what Mr. Potato Head said.

SPEAKER_03

You're right. I had the same thoughts. And I don't think that's a dumb hill. I think that's just when you What was the first movie? 95? 95? And Don Rickles was probably already 80 something. Yeah. He was very old when I was like. I mean, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

When you get a really iconic actor, you know, this is why you can't do up two. That Asner's gone, you know?

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah, and if they did make an up to, if they make a real life version up, I am going. Okay. I am going to strangle someone.

SPEAKER_00

Right, move it on.

SPEAKER_05

Because it's blasphemy.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. Alright.

SPEAKER_05

But the potato head thing, that's the only reason it's not a 10 out of 10. That it's a 9 out of 10 for me. Okay. Toy Story 10. For me, 5.5.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we know. Well, 9, 9.5 is 10.

SPEAKER_05

Toy Story 3 is 11 out of 10. It's so freaking. Alright, that's the only thing Toy Story 3 has over up is the villain. The great bad guy. Lotso is that is easily a top 10 villain of all time. That's how you know Toy Story 3 is great. When you can take a bear that smells like freaking strawberries and make him so menacing and so great that you love him. And I love Lotto's voice too. Yes, Lazo's voice.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe that's what hell smells like, strawberries.

Nostalgia Tech And Parenting Fears

SPEAKER_03

Why are we so primed right now for stories about toys, nostalgia, and technology competing for kids' attention?

SPEAKER_05

Well, because the first one came out in '95, so then parents can show their kids the original and then the original trilogy, and then they can go to the theater with their kids and show them that. It's for the whole family.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you missed the step where they all go outside and burn number four. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Honestly, thinking about it, you know, watching Toy Story 5, you don't need to watch four.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you definitely don't.

SPEAKER_05

You're right.

SPEAKER_06

You can actually skip four.

SPEAKER_05

Like all you need to know from four is that Bo Peep comes back.

SPEAKER_06

And what he leaves.

SPEAKER_05

And Woody Leaves. He goes with her.

SPEAKER_06

That's it.

SPEAKER_05

That's all you really need to know. And I'm glad that they took away Bo Peep's storyline from Toy Story 5. Get that out of there. Yep. Um, but yeah, that's why. It's a it's an experience for the family. Gets people back in the theaters, not just renting it at home. Yeah. It's for everyone. Cal?

SPEAKER_01

What he said. Okay, Rachel.

SPEAKER_04

Um This is your movie, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I think, you know, I I said the other day, I really expected to leave the theater saying it was fine.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And one of the reasons I thought that is uh because I did think it was going to be a dumb storyline, but also I'm not the target audience for this movie. None of us are. None of us are the target audience for this movie. I'm not a young child, I'm not a parent of a young child. Um, and yet Jackson hit the nail on the head like this is a movie for everybody.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then especially for me, I was 11 in 1995 when this came out. So um weird. What? But but like, but you're getting to a point now.

SPEAKER_01

She's my wife.

SPEAKER_00

But but you're getting to a point now where even though I am no longer the target audience for this, I still want to see it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I can I'm still invested. We're we're talking about a movie from 19. I never thought in 1995 that in 2026 this would be a franchise that we would I would be talking about with my kids on a podcast. Like that's so that's crazy. Weird.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but yeah, I just and I think too, the story is relevant. Like on the one hand, it does, you know, I was with you, like, this is an outdated story. We've done this. But the truth is, is that the internet still, it's such a huge part of our lives. And you and I especially are first generation parenting kids with the internet um and the internet in our hands. Yeah. And so this is still we need to be talking about this. And this movie was like it was subtle, it was nuanced, it was funny. But overall, yes, parents need to be watching this. It's just it's a really great cautionary tale, but in in not a beat you over the head kind of way.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I think we need this this right now, and I think people are hungry for for just good stuff. I mean, that's the best way to say it. Like good stuff, good music, good movies, good food. This is a great. Movie. And it it does everything that the original trilogy does, and more, and it handled something that's very sensitive. And people don't like to talk about their own flaws. And I think this points out a big one, not only in kids, but in parents. In anyone. Yeah, and and we're not perfect at this. I mean, I'm on my phone constantly. I try to fight it, but one thing I want to fight more, and I hate to drop this phrase, but I'm gonna start dropping this phrase all the time because I love it. Fight the suck. We have to fight the suck in this world, and that is the internet. That is part of the suck. Asshole kids is part of the suck. Um, crappy movies like Obsession are part of the suck. I'm glad we were hopping.

SPEAKER_04

Stop, stop, stop. No, no, no, no. We're not going down a rabbit hole. Stop, stop.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, no, no, no, no, not gonna say anything about hoppers. I was just gonna say it's I was on a roll. Go ahead. It's hard to believe that we live in a world where Toy Story 5, Masters of the Universe, live action, and obsession coexist. Like, it's like, huh?

SPEAKER_01

Okay. That's Gen Z's take.

SPEAKER_04

No, I wasn't talking about hoppers, and I lost my train of thought. What was I saying?

SPEAKER_05

I don't remember. Yeah. Oh my god. In my brain, I was just like, don't bring up hoppers, don't bring up hoppers.

SPEAKER_04

I wasn't gonna bring up hoppers! Why would I do that?

SPEAKER_00

But you were talking about, you know, how people just want good stuff.

SPEAKER_05

And that's what confuses me so badly about the the general audience out there that they love obsession, they love that extreme, but then in animated movies, they like hoppers.

SPEAKER_03

But they actually don't. They actually don't. I'm telling everyone that's watching on both of these devices right now. You are being fed lies. Go see it for yourself. If you can help it, don't even watch the trailers anymore. Go to the movies with your friends and family and enjoy these movies. Now, if you're a parent and you want to go see Obsession or something that's rated R, look at the parents' guide on IMDB and see if there's anything that you don't want your kids to see. Right. Toy Story 5.

Sequel Fixes And Merch Dreams

SPEAKER_03

Are you going to fix the sequel problem, make the tech even sillier, or are you gonna cash in on some lily pad merch, maybe? Can you do two? Of like no, you can only do one.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I think fixing the sequel problem, can that be getting rid of Toy Story 4? You can do whatever you want. It's a podcast. I'm fixing the sequel problem and I'm getting rid of four.

SPEAKER_05

Well, while you're doing while you're doing that, I'm gonna cash in on some merch because I feel like there are a thousand good t-shirt ideas in here, especially Fallin' with style. Falling with style. That's an iconic line. When they said that, I was like, yes, that's the nostalgia we're looking for.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, just make a buzz light year drone. Yes!

SPEAKER_07

Yes! That's what you're doing!

SPEAKER_01

My jaw literally dropped.

SPEAKER_04

When that happened, I was like, I want that. That's a toy!

SPEAKER_05

I want that! That's a drone, I would actually buy.

SPEAKER_00

And I want it to say, what does he say?

SPEAKER_05

Following with style.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, that. But then what is he, he's what does he say after Jesse kisses him? Ease, what was it?

SPEAKER_05

At ease, Ranger.

SPEAKER_00

At ease. At ease, Ranger. I wanted to say that too.

SPEAKER_03

That was great. Okay, so Rach, what are you doing? So you guys both did merch, or you did. I did merch. Fix equal price equal for merch equal. Rach, what are you doing?

SPEAKER_00

Boy, it's gotta be, yeah, it's gotta be merch. I mean, there just again, there there has always been good Toy Story merch. You guys growing up had um a lot of different uh Toy Story toys, which again, I mean, you guys are now. Well, it's called Teenager.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so Joe Jackson interrupted me. When he finally pooped on the potty, he got a Woody. The toy.

SPEAKER_04

But oh. I just want to clarify for you, Siccos out there.

SPEAKER_01

He got the toy, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Did you get a dinosaur? Was it Rex?

SPEAKER_01

When was the first time I watched Toy Story? When you were on the potty.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I I want to know.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. But I think Jackson was pretty smart because he I I said it. I was like, we'll get you the Woody toy if you poop on the potty.

SPEAKER_05

He goes right in there and just do something I don't want to do, I might as well be compensated for it somehow. Even my even my how old was I? Pretty very old. So even my three-year-old self was like, yeah, let me just let me get something out of this. But you're cashing in.

SPEAKER_00

I'm cashing in. Again, it's it's a movie based on toys. There's always been good Toy Story merch, but I feel like there was so much in this. Oh, all of those um, the horses, the horse dolls.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, and how the water horse winked at Buzz.

SPEAKER_00

I love that. The the like the multicolored horse with the wings. I want one of those. I that was with Buzz riding on it. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Well, we need some good Funkos from this movie. Yeah, there's a Smartie Pants one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

But we need some like unique ones from the scene. Yeah, like a whole scene. Absolutely. Well, and the reason why Toy Story merch has always has always been good is because it's called Toy Story. It's a movie based on toys. You better have good toys of the toys.

SPEAKER_00

You just have to pull the stuff out of the movie and make it, and that's what they've always done. So, I mean, one of those Smarty Pants toys and having it actually talk, that'd be hilarious. That would be so great. I mean, what a crazy toy that was.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, um, listen, I will make this very simple and wrap up this set this segment right here, right now. If anyone ever came to me and said, You want to be part of some Toy Story merch.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, hell yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh, you'd be making money for the rest of your natural born life, and your generations beyond you are making that. That's why they continue to make Toy Story. And somebody finally got these writers in a room and said, You guys can give us money for the rest, just write something good. And they finally did.

Ratings And Final One Liners

SPEAKER_03

So let's go ahead and rate this on a relatively terrible scale, which is relatively great, good, fine, questionable, exhausting, or relatively terrible. Jackson start us off. Toy Story 5. Relatively great. Riley what?

SPEAKER_06

Rally? Rally? Rally. Rally great. Rally was really, really great. Yeah! Relatively great. Okay. And with a score of a 9.5 out of 10.

SPEAKER_03

9 out of 10 for me.

SPEAKER_06

It was relatively great.

SPEAKER_03

What's your what's your out of 10?

SPEAKER_00

I nine?

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think this is the first time ever.

SPEAKER_00

You're saying great?

SPEAKER_03

Relatively great. It's gotta be like a nine for me. Yeah. I gotta see it again. Yeah, we gotta see it again. But let's go ahead and leave our listeners with one last sentence for Toy Story 5. Who wants to start it off? I'll do it. Okay, go ahead. To infinity and beyond.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh. Oh, here we go.

SPEAKER_00

Here we go.

SPEAKER_01

This is flying with style. Nice, right?

SPEAKER_00

This is Toy Story 3.5.

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Forget Toy Story for go see Toy Story 5 today.

SPEAKER_07

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Alright.

What Was Good This Week

SPEAKER_03

Now we're done talking about Toy Story 5. What was good this week?

SPEAKER_06

Seeing Toy Story 5.

SPEAKER_03

Very cool. Very cool. What else? Anything good? I got the shirt. Nice. Nice. Got the shirt.

SPEAKER_06

His job. Oh. And you got that 50% off. Why do you why why is this?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, just announce it. Just announce it. Yeah, just announce it.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I went down the rabbit hole uh these last couple days of all of the World Cup um social media stories about all the the folks from other countries enjoying the United States and then people in the United States reacting to that. So that was that felt like fight the suck content to me. I don't know you don't see a lot of good stuff on the internet, but a lot of that was good.

SPEAKER_03

It's gotta be good if it's getting you excited, and that's cool to see you excited about something, and I'm not being sarcastic or facetious, like seriously, like you were really into that. I think um this week just you know, I always feel really blessed to be able to do what we do, and I love the relationship that our family has. And even though obsession sucks so bad, it was so fun to like pick Jackson up at his job, go to the food court, get food, then go see the movie, and then go get food after the movie, walk out of the theater together in a suck-ass movie. Yeah, obsession?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Toy Story 5!

SPEAKER_03

And then today, you know, ordering pizza and going to see Toy Story 5 and sitting here doing this podcast. I just, you know, I need to sit there and you know, take this playback and play it to myself when I'm feeling down about dumb views on social media. It's just it's not it's not worth it. I think I'm trying to get to the place where I'm feeling that way because I'm not able to help everyone fight the suck like I want to. I want more people to see our stuff. And if you know us for any amount of time, you know we're not trying to be rich, but we really want to do something real and do something special. So um I know we'll get there. I'm just really impatient. So, but that's all we have for Relatively Terrible. Anything else?

SPEAKER_00

No. Are we seeing this again on Tuesday?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we can see it again tomorrow. Oh my god. But we gotta see it again. I love this so much. If we're gonna see it again, we gotta see it on a Tuesday morning. Yeah, probably Tuesday.

SPEAKER_03

And I bet waiting that that long will be relatively terrible for you, huh? Yep.
